Livestock Equipment for Farmer Use

The UT Extension Office houses five pieces of Livestock Equipment for Lauderdale County Livestock Producers or any member of the Lauderdale County Livestock Association. This equipment is for farmers to check-out and use on the farm. It is free of charge for all Lauderdale County Livestock Association Members. Equipment description is listed below: 

1)Head-catch/squeeze chute is made by W-W. This portable unit is pull type and can be transported easily behind pick-up. It can be adjusted to catch mature cows and bulls, as well as, small calves. It requires a 2 inch ball and is simple to use. Minimal instruction may be needed for first time users. 

2) Scales  are used to weigh cattle. This particular unit is an older model with the slide bar weight scale. It is accurate. It can be used to weigh animals up to 2000 lbs. It requires a 2 inch ball and is a pull type. 

3) Cattle Corral is a very large unit that will hold up to 400 head of calves and is useful in areas that does not have catch pens for loading and sorting. It will hold cattle of all sizes. This particular unit unfolds and can be adjusted depending on the use. It is hydraulic and is designed for one-man operation. This unit also requires a 2 inch ball and should be pulled by ¾ ton pick or higher. May need agent instruction for first time users. 

4) Stock Trailer is an aluminum trailer with split gate and has padded floor. Suitable for transporting bulls, cows and calves. This particular unit requires 2-5/16^th ball. 

5) General Use Trailer is a twelve footer that can be used for many purposes around the farm. It requires a 2 inch ball.
